Hi there! I’m Hannah, and I’m a fraud analyst.
I first started in the banking world as a teller just a few months out of college, and I worked in that position for over a year. A desire to pursue my passion of music took me out of banking and back to school.
Then, the COVID pandemic hit, and I spent a few years freelancing and working from home. After the rise of AI, I lost a lot of my contract work and went back into the sales world, first for a couple of music stores before back to banking.
During my initial job search, I almost fell victim to a fake job scam. The “company” told me I would receive a check that I would use to pay their “vendor” for work-from-home supplies.
Luckily, my spidey senses took over, and I got out before sending anyone any money.
Following a couple rounds of job searching, I spent two years as a personal banker, and one of my favorite things was educating customers about fraud and scams and helping them protect themselves in the future.
So when an opening in my financial institution’s fraud department came up, I took the leap.

Stay up to date on financial scams
Also during the COVID pandemic, I started watching content online about scams and scambaiting: wasting scammers’ time.
While I wouldn’t go that far, I do believe it’s important to stay up to date on financial scams. Scammers are getting smarter, so we need to stay one step ahead.
I’m on a mission to help individuals protect themselves from fraud and scams. The internet can be used for a lot of bad, like scamming people, but this corner is going to be used for good: to help you stay aware of scams.
Why should I care about scams?
Even if you’re lucky enough to have never been scammed, you never know when that might change. We all have moments of desparation, and those are the perfect opportunities for fraudsters to strike.
Whether you or a loved one falls victim to a scam, the aftermath can be scary. It may involve a conversation with your bank’s fraud department, opening new accounts, and changing passwords.
Don’t wait until you’re the victim of a scam before you start to learn about them! Stick around for tips and tricks to help you avoid popular scams and fraud tactics from your friendly fraud analyst.
